Recipe for cooking catfish appetizer

Catfish Appetizer


12 oz. softened cream cheese
2 Tbsp. mayonnaise
2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
Dash of garlic salt
1 sm. onion, chopped finely
1/2 C. water
1/4 tsp. salt
1 lb. catfish fillets
1/2 C. chili sauce
Paprika (optional)


Mix together first 5 ingredients; beat at med. speed with electric mixer until smooth. Stir in chopped onion. On a servings platter, spread cream cheese mixture into a 6-in. circle, and pin. up a sm. rim. Cover and chill at least 3 hr..


Mix together water and salt in a lrg. skillet; bring to a boil, and add fish. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 10 to 15 min. or until fish flakes easily with a fork.


Drain and flake fish with a fork; chill.


To serve, spoon chili sauce over cream cheese mixture; top with fish. Sprinkle with paprika, if desired.


Serve with crackers.


Makes approximately 14 to 16 appetizer servings.
