Default What is the first – froth milk or make espresso?

I am new to milk frothing and I am having lot of trouble with it now. Actually, I've never havd a good froth since I've made mu fisrt latte I don't know exactly what the problem in, but I read in one book that it is important to to make your espresso before you froth milk. Is that true? Does it make any difference?

If you your espresso machine does not have a heat exchanger (or dual boilers) then you should make your espresso shot first. The point is that when you froth milk first, it will affect the temperature of water, boiler, and group head. If you do not want to spoil your espresso shot, then do it first.\r\n\r\nThose who have an expensive espresso machine with a heat exchanger (or dual boilers), can froth the milk first, because it will last long enough for them to draw espresso shot.

Froth depends also on the quality of milk. Use full cream or semi-skimmed milk, try to avoid skimmed milk. Sometimes it is worth trying milk from different supermarkets, in order to find the best milk.
