I have recently bought a Delonghi Cafe Treviso expresso/cappacino machine. It makes good coffee, but I am disappointed with froth. Despite following instructions carefully- chilling milk etc- I get only a small amount of froth. Am I expecting too much that my little machine should produce froth like commercial ones?

I am not sure about De Longi products. I believe, you'd better contact the manufacturer, because they will give you the most exact reply.\r\n\r\nAs for the commercial quality of coffee, of course you can get one only with commercial type of espresso machines.

While your machine may not have enough power to produce a hi quality micro-foam, you should be able to get passable results by working on your technique.\r\n\r\nYou DO not need a "commercial" machine in your home to produce espresso drinks that are better than what you would be served in 90% of commercial espresso places. What you DO need is a quality single boiler unit, a working knowledge of the machine (temp surf? cooling shots?), good burr grinder, a fresh roasted espresso blend and the patience needed to navigate the learning curve.\r\n\r\nI have a Rancillio Silvia and Rocky doserless grinder in my office at the warehouse. I can pull incredible shots, much better than most commercial places by far and rivaling some of the best.\r\n\r\nNow, that being said, I have a PID'd 2 group La Marzocco Linea in my office at the roasting facility. The shots I pull from this machine are quite near to perfection, plus it has the ability to pull shot after shot while steaming with the power of a locomotive. AND Chucky, our resident "modder" laid down some sweet red neon tubes on her undercarriage and the top/cupwarmer...cuz' he is the shizzle!\r\n\r\nPractice good technique

Sorry about that...I wasn't logged in when I posted the above message, but I'm sure you all knew it was me 'cuz it's long winded.\r\n\r\nAnyway, don't buy into that garbage that you have to go OUT for a good espresso but be prepared to buy some good equipment, some good coffee and practice.\r\n\r\nWatch MTV for a new reality series called "Pimp my espresso machine"!
