Default Mandarin Salad

1 head iceberg lettuce\r\n1 head romaine lettuce\r\n6 green onions, diced\r\n2 -16 oz cans mandarin oranges, drained (or you can use fresh ones)\r\n2 -7 oz packages of slivered almonds\r\n3 tablespoons sugar\r\n1/4 cup butter or margarine\r\n\r\nSaute almonds with sugar and butter. Cool, then mix all together.\r\n\r\nDressing:\r\n\r\n1/2 cup salad or olive oil\r\n1/4 cup sugar\r\n1/2 cup vinegar\r\n1/2 teaspoon salt\r\ndash of pepper\r\n2 drops Tobasco sauce\r\n2 tablespoons mandarin orange juice

Coolness! I came in here through somewhere else and found this gem of a recipe. Mandarin oranges are starting to show up at the grocery store and they have gotten rid of that problem they had last year with the bean sprouts so it looks like a good time to make this salad.\r\n\r\nSpike :twisted:

I love Mandarin Salad. My favorite is the almonds. I am definitely going to cook them with the sugar and butter. Boy, those might actually be good for snacking :wink: I might have to omit the Tabasco though (even though it's only two drops). My kids are very sensitive to anything with a little bit of spice.
