Doesn't anybody know the difference between coffee drinks!?
I've been reading through this forum for a glimmer of intelligence, but have yet to find one. Just a lot of posts by people who think that Starbucks is good coffee and that there is nothing wrong with instant coffee. Time to wake up!\r\n\r\nIt seems that nobody knows the differences between an Au Lait and a Latte. However plenty of useless folks love to state that an au lait is the same thing as a cafe con leche. Like we haven't heard that a dozen times before. Nobody cares. \r\n\r\nA latte contains a single or double shot of espresso (3-6 oz) mixed with steamed milk (9-12 oz). A SMALL dollop of froth can be addd for show, but is NOT a part of the traditional drink. The ratio of espresso to milk is usually 1:3 but can be different if you prefer more espresso.\r\n\r\nA cafe au lait DOES NOT contain any espresso. None. It is simply one-half regular or strong coffee with steamed milk and possibly a small amount of froth. NO ESPRESSO! Get it through your thick heads already!\r\n\r\nA cappuccino is one part espresso, one part steamed milk and one part froth. IN THAT ORDER! No sugar, caramel, vanilla or any other crap that is mostly made from high-fructose corn syrup. Perhaps a touch of lemon, but that's it!\r\n\r\nA macchiato is a shot of espresso (3 oz) served in a traditional demitasse with a small dollop of froth. No sugar or caramel or any other garbage and it should not come in a stupid paper cup. Before any traditional coffee beverage is served, the cup it comes in should be pre-heated; this is often done with the espresso machine. You can't preheat a paper cup and the 3 oz inside will become cold very quickly. Just because it's called a shot, doesn't mean you have drink it like liquor!\r\n\r\nEspresso is simply darkly roasted coffee brewed under pressure at a high concentration of coffee to water. When drinking espresso, you could add sugar, but then you could also go stick your head in a microwave to see how it works. As I'm sure you've figured out YOU SHOULDN'T BE PUTTING SUGAR IN ESPRESSO! IF YOU DON'T LIKE HOW IT TASTES THEN DON'T DRINK IT! It is an acquired taste and it's not for everyone. I don't even like the stuff, but I'm not trying to fool anyone by ordering an espresso and then loading it up with crap! \r\n\r\nOh yeah, Starbucks is just bad coffee. Try a local coffee shop for a change--they are typically more passionate and knowledgable about coffee than the future-actor/genius that works at big green. \r\n\r\nFrappucinos are for morons. That includes you bub, so quit drinking them! They're full of fat and sugar anyway.
