I started this topic, because I think it will be very useful. Let's help each other to solve some problems we have, like cleaning food-stained or greasy things, keeping the products etc...\r\n\r\nMy first tip: \r\n\r\nHow to clean pots and pans\r\nTo clean food-stained pots and pans, fill them with white vinegar and let stand for 30 minutes. Then rinse in hot and soapy water. \r\n\r\n

I hate grease and greasy dishes, it's so unpleasant and... hmm... simply hate it  \r\n\r\nWell, if you have really greasy dishes, wash them with a squirt of dishsoap and 1/2 cup of baking soda. I always do it this way and it really helps

If you use half a lemon you can keep the other half fresh for ages by putting the cut side on a plate and covering it with a glass...this will exclude air and keep it fresh
\r\n\r\nYou can also slice it, put into a glass jar and sugar it abundantly. In some hours you will get a lot of lemon + sugar juice, which is very tasty in tea or coffee

Tip to reduce salt in food\r\n\r\nIf you accidentally over salt a dish while it's still cooking, drop in a peeled potato. The peeled potato absorbs the excess salt leaving you with less salt in the soup or dish you were making.

Make your own homemade salt substitute\r\n\r\nIf you are looking for an alternative to salt then this recipe may well be the answer. Use this recipe in place of table salt. You can make your own dried orange and lemon peel by stringing strips onto a piece of string and hanging them up in the kitchen. When quite dry, they can be ground in an electric grinder. Citric acid can be bought at chemists/drug stores. \r\n\r\nTo make about 1? oz/45g \r\n4? level teaspoons cream of tartar \r\n1 level tablespoon each of garlic granules, dried and ground orange peel, arrowroot and sugar \r\n2 level tablespoons each of black pepper, celery seasoning and onion powder \r\n1 ? level teaspoons citric acid 1 level teaspoon each of white pepper, dill weed and dried thyme, crumbled \r\nDried, ground rind of one lemon \r\n? level teaspoon cayenne pepper \r\n\r\nPut all the ingredients in a small electric spice grinder, coffee grinder or blender. Grind for 10 seconds or until the mixture is fine. With a funnel, transfer the salt substitute into a glass saltshaker. Store any that4 floz/115ml is left over in a tightly covered container and keep in a cool, dark, dry place.

One more tip from me
\r\n\r\nBrown Sugar\r\nPlacing a piece of bread in with the brown sugar will prevent it from becoming hard, or sealing the package tight and storing it in the refrigerator will also keep it soft and fresh.

If honey crystallizes, place the honey container in a pan or bowl of hot water and let it stand until the honey has melted. Then stir the melted honey until it is smooth. \r\n\r\nTo allow honey to side smoothly from a measuring spoon or cup, coat the measuring device with oil before pouring the honey in it.
