Default Mango Pickle

Hi, I was just on this board looking at the bread maker recipes and I saw that there was this new section. I then saw this Mango Pickle thing and I was like what is a Mango Pickle? Do they mean pickled Mangos? Does anyone know or can they like point me in the right direction.. I keep on giggling when I think Mango Pickle. Oh yea, does it taste good?\r\n\r\nThanx, \r\n\r\nDaisy

Hi daisy\r\n\r\nMango pickle is made of unripe mangoes and chilli powder along with other seasonings. There are different varieties of Mango pickle. Cut Mango pickle, Avakka Pickle, Mango thokku and so on.

You mean there is more than one kind??? Wow! That is wild! Where can I try Mango Pickle? Is it easy to make? Do I have to dry the Mango myself?\r\n\r\nThanks, \r\n\r\nDaisy.

yes daisy\r\n\r\nthere are different varieties. U can get them in indain stores. U can also make mango pickle at home if u have mango and other necessary items, if needed i can give u a simple recipe for mango thokku. It will be delicious with rice esp curd rice. :P

Coolness..... Sure, a simple recipe sounds great! But what is curd rice? Is that like bean curd? or like Cheese curds? I was like in Quebec, Canada once and they put like Cheese curds on their Fries... really weird! :? but it actually was not that bad... maybe that was because I drowned it in gravy!!!! :lol: \r\n\r\n\r\nDaisy

Hello there
Curd rice is one of the most famous Rice mixtures in INDIA...
Here is a simple way to prepare this dish....
Intially fry mustard, green chilli, beaten bengal gram and curry leaves in a pan of little oil. Add this fried season into a vessel of curd with little salt . Finally add some graded coconut and pour into a basin of boiled rice mixing well....
Cashnewnuts may be added for extra taste....

A spicy pickle is a must for an Indian lunch.. varaties of preserved pickles are made in India... Most of them are made from fresh vegetables so that the nutrients are preserved...

I would also like to tell the other pickles that are available..

Pickles include :
Gooseberry pickle
Raw mango pickle
Mango Ginger pickle
Mixed vegetable pickle
Small onion pickle

And of course many more HOT and SPICY Pickles..

Wow!! A great deal of pickles. So how do we eat these Pickles, as a friend a has mentioned "only with curd rice" ??

Hey people here is another drink that you could make with curd.. this is known as LASSI
Mix 1/4 of sugar with half litre of curd... Thaen pour 2 teaspoons of rose water and ice drink duly mixing well...
Easy ????
