Default Paddles baked into the bread????

Ok, I'm new to message boards, and to breadmakers. Is it common to have the paddles bake right into the bread? My husband thought I must have forgotten to put them in the breadmaker, and here we cut them out of the loaf of bread!!!!! :?

That use to happen all of the time with my old Black & Decker bread maker. I found that rubbing some margarine on the paddle before making the bread can help get it out without making too big of a whole. A lot of the newer bread makers have a signal to take the dough out and remove the paddle before it starts to bake the bread.\r\n\r\nKitty.
