Default How Do I Store Coffee Beans

I have read two different opinions on storing an opened bag of coffee beans. The first says to place it in an air-tight container and leave it at room temperature. And others say it is best to refrigerate them to keep them fresh. However, I read that condensation can take place on the beans when they are refrigerated and thus compromise the quality of the coffee.\r\n\r\nCan someone help me with this? \r\n\r\nAlso, what is the best way to store ground coffee (if you have enough for a day's worth). Should that be left at room temperature or refrigerated either? \r\n\r\nThanks for your help

\r\n\r\nSure, condensation can take palce, when you remove beans from the refrigerator or freezer, and humidity is a danger for coffee beans. If you want to make good coffee from your beans, store them in dry conditions.

But what do I do if I have some whole beans that I don't use up in a few weeks? Should I still store them at room temperature in an air tight bag, or would the freezer be better (and let them completely defrost before using them)?\r\n\r\nThanks!

It looks like we are interested in the same topics, Sweet-P \r\n\r\nWhen I tried to search internet for the info about coffee storing I found SO many different opinions! I found the following way (which seem the best for me): \r\n\r\nI purchase fresh whole bean coffee in good packaging and use it right away. I use one bag before opening the next, and it ususally takes about a week to use one bag.\r\n\r\n I tried to store beans in a freezer, but this is not a very good idea, coffee lost most of its taste and quality.

Default Storing Coffee Properly

Tips about storing coffee:\r\n\r\n----------------------------------------------------------------------------------\r\n\r\nStoring coffee properly will keep it fresh and help preserve its flavor longer. Also, remember to keep coffee away from air and moisture.\r\nWhen freshly roasted coffee is first opened, the beans appear to be oily. \r\n\r\nMost of the flavor is contained within the coffee oils. Coffee oils are also responsible for the ?crema?; a dense, light brown foamy layer visible on top of an espresso. \r\n\r\nNEVER store coffee in the freezer. If stored in the freezer the oils will shrink and crack. As a result, the coffee will lack full aroma and the extracted espresso shot will produce no ?crema?. \r\n\r\nTo preserve the life of your coffee, once the coffee package has been opened, immediately transfer the contents to an airtight container and store at room temperature.
