I have a caffeine intolerant friend, who likes espresso very much. He always drinks decaf.

This thread is a bit old, but if you still want to know why decaf is still bad...decaf still contains theobromine, which is almost as addictive as caffeine, and chlorogenic acid, which has been associated to an increased risk of heart attacks. I don't know exactly what these things are, but I read about it somewhere.

I have friends who are caffeine intolerant, but love the taste of coffee...so they drink a cup of decaf and the small amount of caffeine in one cup will not affect them. Personally, I think the taste of coffee and the caffeine go hand in hand so I will not drink decaf...I liken it to drinking non-alcoholic beer - what the point? lol
