If you adn your wife both getting different coffee results off the same grind setting then it looks like tamping is the key.\r\n\r\nTamping is very important. Without it you will not get the grinds compacted enough into the filter basket. And the opposite is also true: if you tighter tamp and you are going to overextract the shot.
