Studies are contradictory as to whether coffee has any specific health benefits, and results are similarly conflicting with respect to negative effects of coffee consumption...
The only health maybe due the caffine content.

Excess coffee consumption may lead to a magnesium deficiency... So 1 cup of coffee is better for a day I guess...

Night time coffee drinking is too bad for your health... The effects of caffeine on sleep are clear-cut: taken before bedtime, it usually delays sleep onset, shortens overall sleep time, and reduces the "depth" of sleep..

Regular use of upwards of 350 mg of caffeine a day causes physical dependence on the drug. This means with out a drink after you get additicted may endup in severe headaches...

Studies have shown that coffee has both health benefits and health hazards. But as with anything else we consume, they have both pros and cons. I think the key to most things is balance. A cup or two of coffee a day (for people who do not suffer from caffeine intolerance) should be okay. Almost anything overdone can be unhealthy.
