Default Chocolate Chip Bread

1/4 cup water\r\n1 cup milk\r\n1 egg\r\n3 cups bread flour\r\n3 tablespoon brown sugar\r\n2 tablespoon white sugar\r\n1 teaspoon salt\r\n1 teaspoon ground cinnamon\r\n1 1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast\r\n2 tablespoon margarine, softened\r\n3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips\r\n\r\nPlace ingredients in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select the setting that allows ingredients such as seeds or fruit to be folded into the dough; press Start. Add the chocolate chips at the signal or about 5 minutes before the kneading has finished.

Wow, this sounds so good!! I am going to have to make it this weekend I think. This also sounds like a nice Christmas present to give to the neighbors too. Our neighborhood usually does a cookie exchange but would love to make this for them as well.

How did it go, Jules? I was salivating the whole time I was typing it! All I could think was that I was sure I had all the ingredients in my pantry and I could easily make a loaf. LOL!\r\n\r\nBefore DH and I moved 1400 miles from family and friends I gave everyone a loaf of some delicious bread for Christmas. Love those patterned Reynolds wraps.

I made this and it was absolutely delicious. I had to add extra flour and I thought it still wasn't going to be enough, but the bread was not to moist and not too dry.

I love the different colored plastic wrap and wrap all my breads, cookies, and such at Christmas. It really makes everything look so festive. I've never mailed cookies or bread before to anyone but my sister is asking me to send her some of my banana bread that I make. Any tips?

When I mail out food for the holidays, usually I'll buy those disposable containers (like Tupperware) and wrap it up in that. I'll just protect it with stuff that I have on hand - the paper from the paper shredder works really well!!

Karen, I like Jeanette's idea about the disposable containers. Ziploc and Glad make really sturdy and inexpensive ones. I'd wrap the bread in the festive plastic wrap the way you normally do then put it in an appropriately-sized plastic container with a lot of cushion. Then box and wrap to USPS specifications.

I don't know that I'd say that toasting the bread melts the chips. The chips mithstood the baking process the first time. But, it is really good toasted. I like cream cheese spread on it.
