For me, it all depends. When I wake up in the morning and get the coffee maker started up, the aroma fills my whole house. I think that alone gives the coffee atmosphere. As long as the coffee is high quality and tastes great, all I need is a plain old mug. However, If I'm entertaining, I think tableware is important to set the mood.
