Recipe for cooking chafing dish meatballs

Chafing Dish Meatballs


1 lb. lean ground beef
1/2 C. bread crumbs
1/3 C. minced onion
1/4 C. milk
1 egg, beaten
1 Tbsp. minced parsley
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/8 tsp. pepper
1/4 C. shortening
1 (12 oz.) bottle chili sauce
1 (10 oz.) jar grape jelly


Mix together lean ground beef, bread crumbs, onion, milk, egg, parsley, salt, Worcestershire and pepper. Shape into 1-in. balls. Cook in hot shortening over med. heat for 10 to 15 min. Drain on paper towels.


Heat chili sauce and grape jelly together. Add meatballs. Simmer for 30 min., stirring occasionally.


Serve in a chafing dish.


Makes approximately 5 dozen.
